COUN 581 - Counseling Practicum

Credit Hours: 3

Incorporates current counseling theory, techniques, research, and ethical content that apply to the beginning practice of counseling. Intermediate counseling skills will be introduced and practiced by students. Students will be placed in community agencies or schools to continue their development as counselors. Journaling, self-critique, peer critique, and supervisor critique of taped sessions will be an integral part of this class.

Prerequisite: COUN 501 COUN 502  , COUN 523  , COUN 579 , completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours of COUN courses, or have a graduate degree in counseling from another institution and the approval by the counseling faculty and the School of Education Chair.
