Law Enforcement Training Certificate

The Law Enforcement Training Program is a five month certificate program which meets legislative requirements for police officer training in the State of New Mexico. The training program is sanctioned by the Department of Public Safety. Students must complete the following courses to fulfill the requirements of the program:

Entry Requirements

Psychological Exam;
Background Check;
Medical examination;
Physical Assessment;
ACCUPLACER - The Police Academy follows the university entrance requirements;
Valid driver’s license;
U.S. citizen.

Program requirements

*Agency-sponsored students are not required to take CJUS 1268

CJUS 1268 - Pre-Academy Fitness & Testing Credit Hours: 3 *
CJUS 1270 - Law Enforcement Training Academy I Credit Hours: 14
CJUS 1280 - Law Enforcement Training Academy II Credit Hours: 10
PHSC 1130 - Forensic Science II: Crime Scene Investigation Credit Hours: 3
PHSC 1130L - Forensic Science II: Crime Scene Investigation Lab Credit Hours: 1
