For Elementary Education New Mexico State Licensure, students must qualify for a competency based teaching field (24-36 credits). To be licensed in New Mexico, you must pass the PRAXIS Teaching Reading Elementary test (5205). If a student wishes to teach at the middle school level, they must pass the secondary content test for their selected teaching field.
